First of all, let me apologize for being so slow posting this review. I know how difficult it is to wait for a review on a ship that you are about to sail...and I'm sorry for making you wait!

This cruise was just the two of us...my husband and myself, both early 50's. We have cruised several times before, on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. Our first Holland America cruise was New Years, 2002 on the Zaandam. This was our first sailing on the Rotterdam.

We flew into Ft. Lauderdale the day before our cruise and took a cab ($10. plus tip and very easy) to Marriot Marina where we had gotten our room for $52. via Priceline. I had requested a room with a view of the cruise terminal and that's what we got. It was great to go to sleep with the Queen Mary outside our window and wake up to the Rotterdam! A nice room, but we got no sleep...in part due to our anticipation level and also because of a noisy air conditioner.
