Sail Date: Jul 2007

I sailed on the Liberty with my Mother who is in her early 60s. I am in my late (very late hehe) 20s. This was her third cruise all with Carnival and my second, also all with Carnival. The review is very long, but hey - it was 8 days!!

Embarkation: We had a suite and thus were able to take advantage of the VIP line. From the time we dropped our bags off until the time we were on the ship was no more than 15 minutes. Judging by the number of agents working, I can't imagine it would have been more than 15 minutes longer through the regular line. All and all though this process was very painless. Unfortunately, we got on the ship at 1:30 and did not have our bags until around 6:30. This is a long time to wait, but Carnival makes it clear that it can take until as late as 8pm so I would advise bringing on a change of clothes if you have an early dinner time.

Public Spaces: The design of the Liberty is fantastic. It's a behemoth of a ship but yet everything is very accessible. The only odd thing we found was that you can't go from mid-ship to aft on decks 3 and 4. Because of this it took us a long walk to get to the Golden Olympian Dining Room the first night. Otherwise the rooms are great. The Lido deck (and decks above and around the pool) are great. Contrary to what I had read before departure, we found finding chairs no issue, even on the days at sea. The main theatre is very nice as are most of the small bars and clubs around the ship. We especially enjoyed The Cabinet, a cigar lounge with nice Jazz music on the Atlantic Deck. The architecture is close to being over-the-top in places, but we did not find it gaudy to the point of distraction. Cabin: We were in a Category 11 suite on the Empress Deck. The room was a very nice size with tons of closet space, and a very nice balcony. The bathroom was extremely nice and my Mother loved the dressing area for putting on her make-up and such. The room was spotless and stayed that way thanks to our room steward Denilo. We always had ice and the mini-bar was well stocked. The bed was very comfortable, but I think everyone has come to expect this on Carnival. We were located close to the mid-ship elevators and that made getting around extremely easy; especially considering we were only 2 decks down from Lido and two decks up from Promenade
