Wow! What an awesome vacation! First of all, we got a balcony stateroom at an inside stateroom price. Secondly, we got a $100 on board ship credit for booking directly through Carnival. Thirdly, we went out of NYC, which is two hours away from where we live in Connecticut. Finally, we got to cruise with our friends, Pete & his fiancee, Jeri. However, we did run into a couple of problems. The first problem happened when Carnival called my house & left a message. They were going to be late getting into port, so we didn't have to arrive to the pier as early as we'd planned. That was Friday, two days before we were supposed to leave. On Sunday, the bus we took from Connecticut took three hours to get into NYC. We then had to wait for a taxi at the Port Authority, & ended up getting a taxi driver that didn't know how to get to the pier. Luckily, I called our travel agent, who took over our booking for the cruise. She gave us a better rate on the insurance cost. Anyway, she told us how to get to the pier, & the four of us were pretty disgusted with the taxi driver, who claimed he didn't know his way. Once we got to the pier, things went from bad to worse. The check in process took forever. We had to go & wait in five different lines in order to get on board! Then, when it was finally time to board, we were all ready to kill each other. Once we got on board, everything calmed down. George & I went to our stateroom to freshen up, & Pete & Jeri went to their room, which was two doors down, to do the same. Once we felt better, we went & explored the ship. We've cruised on the Legend before, August-September, 2005. However, we wanted to familiarize ourselves with our surroundings. Also, Pete & Jeri had never cruised before in their lives, so it was a new experience for them.

The food in the buffet was great! We were able to have pretty much anything, from pizza to shrimp newburgh. Everything was delicious! Our waitresses in the dining room had wonderful personalities. They had conga lines every night in the dining room. The food was just out of this world. I can't say enough about the food & service!

Then there were the shows. The Village Idiots had us laughing for days afterwards. The Legends Variety Show was excellent! The performers were like professionals!
