Embarkation: Vancouver was nice. Stayed at the Pan Pacific. Highlight of Vancouver was biking through Stanley Park. Embarkation at dock was smooth and easy.
On Ship: We were in a suite. My parents, in their 70's were in the next suite over. The neptune lounge was a highlight. Our concierge, Doris, was wonderful. The service on this ship was amazing! Food was just okay. Good enough for us but not memorable. Entertainment was a mixed bag. Guest performers were much better than the cruise cast. Club Hal was only okay. They kept canceling activities that were scheduled but my son, 11, still enjoyed it. He particularly liked the ice cream. By the way, whatever you do on the ship, don't sign up for the metabolic test in the gym. Turns out just to be a scam to sell supplements (at $1200 a person). When we refused to buy them, the guy got mad at us! We had the unfortunate incident of my father fainting on board ship and slashing his scalp. He was sent to the medical facility where he stayed overnight. Much better facility than we expected with an excellent doctor. My father is fine now. The bill was hefty ($1800) but he should get it back with insurance.
Excursions: Juneau - Not much of a town but we took a helicopter and walked on a Glacier with Coastal. Was wonderful. Skagway - Again town was not interesting. Did the wilderness safari. Everything was great except the mosquito's were out in force. Son got 12 bites. Ketchikan - Terrible weather. We cancelled Misty Fjords because of low visibility. At least, Southeast Aviation told us what to expect and allowed us to cancel last minute. Commend their honesty.
