We boarded the Star on Sat. June 9th with no problems. As we entered the ship they were directing everyone to go eat at the Market Cafe, but I knew the Versailles would be open and there was hardly anyone there so we got extra special attention! For the entire cruise I thought the crew and staff did a wonderful job. We were very pleased with our cabin stewards and were amazed that we were called by name all week. The first full day at sea we awoke to choppy waters and many of us, including myself, got sick. By 5:00 we had sailed out of it and had no more rough waters the rest of the trip. Dining: We tried the Versailles and Aqua for dinner, but found we liked the Market Cafe better only because we like less fancy food. The Grill on Deck 12 served burgers and fries every day which was great for lunch. Endless Summer with the Tex-Mex menu was a nice change one night. We didn't try any of the specialty restaurants but heard good things from other passengers. Excursions: We only booked one thru NCL which was the whale watching in Juneau. We had a good time and did see some whales! We also did the Ketchikan Duck tour which was good, and the City and Summit tour in Skagway with Frontier Excursions which was excellent. Entertainment: The Jean Ann Ryan company did a wonderful job in the 2 shows that we saw. There was also a comedian who wasn't very funny, and a hypnotist who was ok. We loved the ship's singers, Stan Sykes, and Jana Seale who performed in the lounges each night. Our cabin: We had an inside cabin on the 10th deck which was easy to find since it was right around the corner from the elevators. It had enough space for 2 people, but I couldn't imagine having 4 in there! Debarkation was also so easy and we were out and found our luggage within 10 minutes! All in all we had a wonderful time and my husband said he'd go again some day-which says alot since I wasn't sure he would like being on a ship.
