We left on Saturday, June 9th for our 7 night western Caribbean on board the Carnival Triumph. "We" being myself, my husband and 2 children(11 y.o. girl and 7 y.o. boy), our friends and their daughter(13). We had neighboring inside cabins on deck 2 "main". It was out first cruise but our friends had been on several.
Embarkation: We arrived in Miami at about noon, should have tried to get in earlier as boarding started at about 11 am. We dropped off the luggage and i drove into the parking garage. The lines moved very quickly and we were pleased with embarkation. Within about 40 minutes so were on board.
Cabin: Our cabin was on the "main" deck #2. I had read about a sewage smell on this ship and unfortunately the rumors were true on this deck, many people were complaining to the pursers desk. Half the hallway was wet the entire trip, I really really hoped that is wasn't from the toilets, but in my head i think it was. If that's true then it's very irresponsible of Carnival to allow passengers to be living with that and not doing something very aggressive about it. Many people would walk around barefoot. blech! the room itself was sufficient, we had four in our cabin and it had 2 overhead pullman beds. originally the 2 lowers were situated across the room from each other so we asked the steward to put them together. at first he said that they can't be put together, so i gave him money and he changed his mind. he told me that it is harder for him to make the upper above the beds if they are together, so we just had him put the 2 beds side by side and use 2 sets of sheets, easier for him that way. our luggage arrived in dribs and drabs throughout the night, in fact they were still delivering luggage as we went to go to bed. all that being said the condition of the ship was good, not terrific. a little gaudy in spots, but well maintained and clean, except for the nasty, stinky carpet!
