My husband and I selected Grandeur for our second-ever cruise because of the convenience of the port. We were traveling with my 85-year-old father, recovering from a recent hospitalization, and liked the idea of skipping the stress of the airport.
We arrived at the Port of Baltimore at 12:30, and check-in went like a dream. There were security, port and cruise line personnel everywhere, directing traffic, providing information, and doing so with a pleasant attitude. Because the wheelchair we rented for my dad was delivered onboard, we asked for and were promptly provide with wheelchair assistance from our parking space right up to the Windjammer cafe. Even without this help, I'm guessing check-in wouldn't have taken more than 10 minutes.
We have only one ship (Enchantment of the Seas) to compare it to, but Grandeur is an elegant ship, with subdued but tasteful decor, including marble inlaid floors and a great deal of original and attractive art in the public areas and even in the hallways. Our ocean view stateroom had a comfortable bed, a large picture window, and light-blocking curtains, which I appreciated for those mornings we slept in.
