Sail Date: May 2007

Simply put, it will be impossible to go back to one of the older Carnival ships. You'll be spoiled after sailing on the Liberty! The decor is very nice, the ship is extremely clean, well maintained, the state room was perfect. Even better than expected! The entertainment was likewise impressive and there is a decent night club to go dancing ("hot & cold")in the evening. If you don't like modern music, there is the most amazing asian couple that sings toward the aft section of the ship every evening and if you close your eyes and listen, you'll swear they ARE the artist whose song they are singing. Whitney, Celine, Bill Medley, Louis Armstrong, etc. Oh, and there is a dance floor as well -- lots of fun!

If you get nothing else from this review, get this! If you take the Liberty to Grand Cayman and want to check out the stingrays, then you are in for a treat. Do NOT book the excursion through Carnival however. You'll pay too much and you'll be packed onto a boat with 50 other people like sardines. We did a great deal of research and ended up taking the advice of many here on cruise critic. We booked with CAPT Bryan (who has his own website). We were on a large catamaran, only 15 people on our tour including me and my girl friend, three crew members, and we just grinned as the folks who booked via Carnival went by all smashed onto their little boats. We spread out, soaked up some sun on the deck, and enjoyed every minute. Oh, and it's cheaper!!

Then, we took the advice of others here on cruise critic and when we went to Costa Maya, we shot straight through the "touristy" shops and pool and caught a cab five minutes up the road to "downtown". You will NOT regret the experience. $10 for a bucket of 6 ice cold bottles of beer and play your cards right, and they'll throw in two shots of tequila! Yes, 6 bottles for $10... in a bucket of ice. Then, grab a one hour massage for $20 -- yes, no kidding. This place was the bomb! You'll want to spend every minute on this beach so forget about the tourist trap just as you get off the boat. Oh, and there are dozens of cabs at this location and it's only $2 per person to get back to the ship. You will NOT have to worry about getting back on time.
