Carnival Triumph - Eastern Caribbean

Sail Date: April 2007
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami
This was a great cruise. This was my Third and my Fiance and 10 year olds son's first cruise. The ship was in very good shape and were working on it around the clock. All of the elevators were working except for one of the glass ones that was sitting on deck 10 the whole cruise.

Our first stop was half moon cay... WOW!!! It was amazing. I read in other reviews that you had to wait all day to get tendered in. Not true. I had ticket #3. Each group that went over had a number. They also had 3 going, not 2. They had 2 double deckers and one single level going constantly. From the time we walked from deck 10 to get our sticker and walk into the lounge and onto the tender was only about 20 minutes. What took so long to get things moving was that this was carnival's first time here and they didn't know how much to take with them. From what I heard at Dinner time from employees was that they took way to much and not enough ice. LEt's just say this was the BEST place I have visited More yet... No shopping and just beach!!!

St Thomas was good for shopping. I still can't get use to their driving. $4.00 per person to get taxied down town in worth it. I always enjoy shopping there. I can tell you that the prices of jewelry on the ship is better than on the island. It doesn't matter where you go, lunch will be a little expensive no matter where you go...

I have never really enjoyed San Juan. I think the weather has just been bad before. I could have stayed at the forts all day. They are just amazing. I took more pictures there than I did the everywhere else combined. What a view!!! We stopped at Senor Frogs and had a blast as well!!! The AC was nice to get out of the heat...

I had to laugh at how the ship looked in Grand Turk... It was so big for the dock and it actually looked like it was pushing sand in the front of the ship. This place was great as well. Don't plan on shopping to much here as the prices are high compared to the rest of the ports. We had to stop at Jimmy Buffet's place. What a beautiful pool! We stopped with the son, got a pepsi and a few drinks... YES for those pepsi addicts... You can get it hear... The rum punch will also kick your rear! The pool has a small island in the middle of it. This place was amazing!!! The beach is a lot like half moon cay. We got some amazing sea shells from this island. WHen you get off the dock, take a right and follow the beach around. Be VERY careful for burdocks in your feet. My fiance got them all over her feet. These sea shell are large. We ended up getting 4 total. They are all over that part of the island...

Dinner was awesome each and every night. Always something new to try. Our waiter was Agus. My son took an immediate liking to him and actually got upset when it was the last light. Agus included him in everything and even let him order stuff that wasn't on the menu. This waiter is one that really deserves his tips!!!

There were times we wouldn't get our carnival capers. We would have to go somewhere or to the pursers desk to get one. I just wasn't happy with our room steward. He was always moving the stuff around we had on the counter. We had it certain ways for a reason. They did keeps our towels changed out and beach towels, but other than that he wasn't responsive at all...

Rolnoldo, the Brazilian Man, really gets you involved and loves to Dance. There is one entertainer there that is just annoying. I believe his name is Drew. He just can't stop saying little jokes and they are the same ones over and over and over. It seemed like it would take him 5 minutes to call a bingo number because he had to just hear himself talk. I didn't go to a lot of the shows because our entire group got tired of him. I heard others make comments as well...

I thought the Southern Cruise was the best until I had been to Half Moon Kay and Grand Turk... JUST AMAZING!!! Less
