We sailed Serenade of the Seas out of San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 14, 2007 for a 7 night cruise. We are a married couple (45 and 61). This is our 4th cruise, all on RCCI. We had sailed on Voyager class ships so we were looking forward to experiencing the Radiance class ship.
Ship: She is beautiful. Lots of glass and art work abound. The dEcor is understated. A bit smaller than the previous ships we sailed, but never felt crowded.
Embarkation: We flew into San Juan at 3:00 p.m. and took a taxi to the Pier ($20.00) We checked our bags at the Pier (RCCI employee). We checked in on the internet and had Sea Pass cards in hand in minutes. Off to board the ship and get our photo taken. 3 of our 4 bags arrived at out stateroom by 6:00 p.m. At 10:00 p.m. (sailing time) my husband called purser desk to inform them we were missing one piece of luggage. They told him it could take a while. At 11:30 p.m. he called again and they informed him all luggage had been delivered. We went to the Guest Service desk and filled out a missing luggage form. They told him they would do a search of the ship and staterooms in the morning. He was given a toiletry bag with toothbrush, comb, deodorant and toothpaste. Needless to say he wasn't very happy to start the cruise with only the cloths he wore on the plane. The next morning (St. Thomas) he called again to see if they found it. No such luck. We went to breakfast (Same clothes different day) and when we returned to our stateroom his luggage was waiting for him like a long lost friend. Their explanation was it could have been in another stateroom. You would think if you had someone else's luggage in your stateroom you could notice. One word of warning: Pack half your clothes in your partner's bags so if this happens to you at least you both have some of your clothes.
