Sail Date: Apr 2007

We have been on a number of cruises. We normally sail with royal caribbean so my comparisons are generally with those experiences. We booked with carnival because I wanted to sail on a certain date and we wanted a lower price than we normally need. I had sailed on one other carnival cruise about six years ago and while the service was fine I thought the decor was tacky and cheap looking and the food was so-so. I found the glory to be really colorful but for the most part tastefully decorated and fun. There was a sculpture that looked like it was from "Beetlejuice" though. Our inside cabin was extremely nice and roomy and our room attendant was very nice. We ate in the casual dining area for breakfast and lunch and we were impressed that we could always find seating easily. The food in casual dining was pretty good with lots of variety. The pizza is outstanding. Cleanliness was lacking, however. The food and service in the formal dining room was o.k. not great. The staff was professional and helpful but not very friendly or warm. The steak was dry and stringy and the choices were boring. They provided a lot of entertainment in the formal dining room but I would rather have had a good steak. The spa staff was outstanding and friendly and the gym has really nice new equipment. We have been to most of the ports of call before and still liked them. I think my favorite was Isla Passion in Cozumel. The excursion staff was awesome, the food was great, and the beach is like a slice of heaven. We also liked Nassau and Costa Maya where we just went off on our own and enjoyed the scenery and shopping. I wanted to go back to Belize to take the river tour again but we did not see as much as last time which is not the ships fault. Entertainment was good with the best stage band that I've heard and great choreography. I don't know why they found it necessary to wear thongs during the family hour,to me it took away from the dance routines. The singers were fair. As on all cruises there were packs of unattended preteens everywhere. We have run into this over and over again and it is really a problem. I've seen kids do things that are so dangerous that it takes my breath away with no parents around and the cruise staff says nothing. I know that everyone thinks that there child is angelic and would never do anything bad or stupid but they need to think again. Parents should also consider that on a cruise with three thousand that there are bound to be some perverts who have had a little too much to drink- then here comes little Susie and her friends all alone--easy pickings. All cruise lines are going to have to address this even if parents are offended- before there is a disaster. O.K. on a happier note. The cruise was good I'd give it a B. There is still more to do on Royal Caribbean rock climbing, golf, bigger nicer pools, even if Carnival is the "Fun Ship" but all in all it was good.

Disembarking was much easier at the individual ports. No standing in the stairways for an hour while the ship "clears".
