First, let me begin by saying that We have sailed Holland America a few times, and in our opinion we think it is an outstanding line. We decided to sail out of New York this year. We have been on many cruises, but continue to go back to Holland America.Embarkation went extremely well,we sailed on time, and the vacation began.I realized that there were a whole lot more kids than you would see on a HAL ship.We like this cruise line as we are in our early fifties, and we like the adult atmoshere.Come to find out there were 450 kids, I was not happy. I have 3 children of my own , and have cruised with them as teenagers, but on the Carnival, or Royal Caribbean.I never thought about spring break. The cruise director made mention a few times that there were a whole lot more kids than HAL has ever had at on time. They were the most badly behaved, loud, sarcastic, intrusive bunch of kids I have ever encountered on a cruise ship.I heard through the grapevine that 2 teenagers kept tripping the fire alarm,I heard they were escorted off in Barbados along with their parents. There was syrup on one set of stairs, elevators were filthy, this is not to say the crew did there very best to keep everything neat and clean that we as HAL cruisers are used to. They were very tolerant, and did everything they could to accommodate them and their parents. They were wonderful. So beware HAL cruisers and any other cruisers, if you sail in the spring be sure you enquire if it will be a spring break cruise. The cruise itself was smooth as ice, no rough water. I am very sad though that I thought this would be our best cruise ever, I should have just went on the Carnival.Oh, I forgot, kids running through the dining room in shorts, t-shirts and bare feet!!!!!The back pool is supposed to be for adults only.Well that did not happen. People, when you take kids on a cruise they still need to watched, the crew are not babysitters, and neither are other quests. I will be extra careful when planning my next cruise in the spring.
