Neat ship. Great cruise. This was our 4th cruise, second with Carnival and Ecstasy far exceeded our expectations. Arrival was a breeze and we do like the VIP check in for suite holders. We rented a car and drove to Galveston, left the car at the hotel and used a hotel shuttle to the port. Within 30 minutes we were on board and on the Lido enjoying the buffet and the sunshine. Our cabin was ready by 1:30 and I prefer the layout of the Ecstasy suites to those of the Triumph. The bathroom and dressing areas are smaller but the floor space for the main cabin is laid out in a way that allows more "moving around room". Muster on this ship was painless, organized, quick and half the time of our previous Carnival cruise and we were back in our cabin sitting on the balcony before the ship left port and we enjoyed watching Galveston slip away with a glass of wine. The captain was timely and we arrived and left on schedule with cooperative weather.
The ship was clean and we observed people picking up and cleaning all the time - they tested the pool and whirlpool waters every hour something we did not see on our first Carnival cruise. Pools and bars were open and closed according to schedule unlike our first Carnival cruise where things were not open according to the schedule. The ship is Las Vegas glitzy and we are not fans of Las Vegas but because of the size of the ship the "deco" style touches were downright fun. I got a kick out of the Society Bar although the fabric furniture was not comfortable the design was so over the top I enjoyed the look. In fact, everything about this ship was tastefully over the top in a fun way.
Dinner for us was Windstar, the smaller midship dining room. With only a few exceptions the people were dressed appropriately on this cruise for dinner. No hairy man armpits in tanks on this cruise like we experienced on Triumph. The wait staff and bar staff were attentive and we were actually given a wine list which was not available to us on the Triumph two years ago (according to our waiter on that ship). We enjoyed trying bottles of wine this trip! My husband said the meat was tender and cooked to his liking. I found several of the dishes a repeat from two years ago, but the dishes were much better prepared and tasty on this ship. My lobster was not rubbery! We were very happy with the food on this ship. Loved the escargot - perfectly prepared! After the nasty, chewy food and inability to get a glass of wine on Triumph without leaving our table and going to the bar we were ecstatic about everything connected to food on this trip. The pizza and deli sandwiches were yummy on this ship.
