Before I write this review, I'd like to preface it by saying that we had a GREAT time and that we have two more cruises booked before 2017. Our traveling companions also booked future cruises onboard, so obviously our overall experience was a really good one despite some of the negatives I'll be listing here.
Our latest trip on Celebrity was on the Silhouette, a ship that my husband and I had never sailed before. We were joined by my parents and by a friend, all of whom are new to Celebrity. Our itinerary was a 7-day Western Caribbean cruise with stops in Mexico, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Haiti.
Embarkation was a breeze with no lines to speak of. We arrived around 12:30 and I would say that we were stepping onto the boat at around 1:00. When I went to get my welcome aboard drink I was asked to prove that I am of legal drinking age, which was a touch entertaining given that I am now in my 30s. My mom, on the other hand, had a hard time getting plain orange juice. I don't believe she ever did.
Our C2 cabin was at the back of the boat, giving us an oddly-shaped but oversized balcony. Overall the cabin was the standard Celebrity fare, although it was our first time having the bed closer to the closet than the balcony door. Our only real concern with the cabin was actually the cabin steward. I understand that he has upwards of two dozen rooms to service, but some of the omissions that he made were surprising. My parents found that as they used the complimentary Celebrity bathroom items they were not replenished. Toilet paper was not replenished once all week. My parents actually ran out -- including the hidden roll in the side cupboard. Aside from that, the cabin was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The location was as far towards the back as you can get without being considered an aft cabin, but we are both fit and enjoyed the walk to and from the stairs.
