We were sailing to New Caledonia however ended up in Melbourne and Hobart before retuning to Sydney thanks to Cyclone Pam (category 5) that slammed into Vanuatu leading to mass devastation and many deaths. Our Captain decided to head south for the safety of the Ship, Passengers and Crew. Great decision.
Even though a number of passengers were disappointed this was a brave and correct decision and generously the passengers were given a $150 credit each for the inconvenience.
This was our 6th cruise, the first on Carnival, have been on Cunard twice and smaller ships. The ship itself was very glitzy but had a great vibe, the dining rooms over the top but most enjoyable and provided private seating cubicles, any time dining fantastic, waiters outstanding, buffet was quick and efficient offering plenty of choice, afternoon tea in the Empire dining was a waste of time if you wanted something to eat, best to go back to the buffet area. The balcony stateroom was spacious for a ship, had plenty of storage area, good air con and a large bathroom plus a very comfy bed. The serenity pool area was a great place to chill out. The Nouveau Restaurant sensational for $40 per head. Outstanding entertainment and overall excellent value for money.
Spacious stateroom, plenty of storage, good size bathroom, comfy bed, great air con, private balcony, mini fridge, writing desk and good lighting.
