Cabin: Large Outside Stateroom (partial sea views)

We boarded the Rotterdam VI in Singapore. Excellent check in, all up it took us less than 30 minutes for us to check in and be in our cabin. Bags were delivered promptly as well, enabling us to quickly unpack and then commence to look around the ship.

Plenty to do onboard, every day the "location guide" gave us the days activities. We had some excellent presentations particularly on the ports we were about to visit. Indonesia itself is a rather grubby dirty country to visit, out of some 7 ports visited, we only got off at Komodo (excellent), Bali (good) and Makassar (okay). The shore excursions were rather expensive and from we saw not necessarily that good in terms of value. In Bali we arranged our own taxi for the 2 days we were there and we looked around Bali itself avoiding all the tourist areas of the island. The Komodo Dragon tour was 2 hours via tender. Excellent tour as we saw a number of wild deer, wild boar and pig, wild chickens and goat. The Komodo Dragons themselves are quite large and rather like well fed large dogs just lazying around a man made waterhole (some 10 minutes walk from the Ranger Station).

Food was good with a good range. Main dining was good as was the Lido Buffet but the Pinnacle Grill (Specialty) was the highlight (we dined there twice).

Cabin Review

Large Outside Stateroom (partial sea views)

Cabin DD

Cabin 2512 is on the Main Deck, Port Side Forward. It has two portholes to enjoy views from (somewhat restricted by size). The cabin itself is quite large, with good storage space available. Of particular note is that the en suite has a bath shower combination which is very good. The en suite was much larger than those found on both Cunard and Celebrity for the same cabin type. Layout of the cabin was very good although no fridge (ice bucket is filled twice daily). Excellent service from our cabin attendants during our 14 day stay. Had no where to store our very large suitcases so placed them on the lounge sofa, that seemed to do the trick. The cabin location was excellent as we often left the ship via the Port Side Forward exit some 30 metres directly aft of our cabin, when we were in port.
