We took a five day & five night cruise on the Carnival Fantasy last week with our son and daughter-in-law and some of their friends. This was our first cruise and we loved it!

One caveat - the Fantasy is a “small” cruise ship compared to others and when we hit choppy seas, the boat rocked side to side a bit. It was a lot like having one too many drinks and not being able to keep your balance. This spoiled it for one member of our group, who was prone to sea sickness.

As a first-time cruise, the Fantasy was terrific. The dining was elegant, the food was incredible, and there was a lot to do. However, unless you are into sitting around a pool with edges completely lined with college age people, do not go during spring break. :-)

Cabin 4D

The room was a bit larger than I expected and the bed was very comfortable. We didn't even notice that our king-size bed was actually two twins pushed together. The "individual climate control" was a vent above the bed that could be opened wide or narrowed. My 5'9" husband had to stand on a chair to reach it.The bathroom had a faint smell, much like a bus or train toilet. Apparently, the flush button used to be automatically activated when leaning back, so that has been fixed with braces on the seat. Now, the lid suddenly slams before you can lower it yourself. Although the water pressure in the shower is just okay, the shower head is detachable, which makes up for it. There is a plug outlet in the bathroom. There was plenty of storage - we nested two suitcases and stored them in the long closet cabinet. The other went under the bed. With a small chest of drawers and three cabinet closets, we were able to hang up and store all of our clothing (and we brought too much).Just like any hotel, we had to stuff a towel under the 1/2 inch crack under the door to keep out the noise of people passing by and talking loudly. We asked for two extra pillows, giving us six down stuffed pillows, one of which I molded over my head. I slept like a baby! Having an inside cabin with no window, we slept ten hours some nights, only waking when we were truly rested. At times, there was no answer when we tried to call the steward for our room. We always got him eventually, though. We asked for ice on the first night and he kept the ice bucket replenished every day thereafter. The beds are made and bathrooms cleaned twice a day, during breakfast and dinner!I did feel a bit cramped and didn't enjoy hanging out in the room. Next time we will pay a bit extra for a balcony room - I think it will be worth it.
