This was my 6th cruise (4th on RCCL), my husband's 4th (3rd on RCCL), and our 17 month old son's first! We brought the entire family; both sets of parents and my 2 sisters-in-law along with one of their friends. After seeing some of the poor reviews about Grandeur, we were a little nervous about this trip beforehand considering it has been 6 years since my family had last been on board this ship. But I couldn't disagree more with some of the previous negative reviews. Call me a simpleton but, hey, I'm not at work, I'm sailing on a beautiful ship with the people I love most, along with friendly, eager-to-please Staff members, stuffing my face with delicious food, seeing great shows, watching movies pool-side, soaking in hot tubs, checking out beautiful ports, NOT HAVING TO COOK OR CLEAN FOR OVER A WEEK....and we paid less than $600 pp for all of the above. Is there really much to complain about?! Sure, the Grandeur is older and one of the "smaller" ships in the fleet with not as many bells & whistles as the newer ships but she is still grand. Everything that was done to the ship, especially the stateroom renovations and movie screen on the pool deck, was an improvement but truthfully, we were thrilled with the ship even before the renos. They were just the icing on the cake this time. Would I have picked out some of the carpet & furniture they did for my own house? Probably not. But you're on a cruise ship. Decor on cruise ships is typically more bold, flashy...and fun!

Embarkation was a breeze. We arrived around 11AM and were on board by about 11:30AM. This is the 3rd time we've sailed out of Baltimore and each time it's been completely painless. They've got it down to a science there.

Our Dining Staff and Stateroom Attendants were all absolutely fabulous, as per usual. As I mentioned before, we brought along our 17 month old son and they honestly treated him like he was a member of their family. Every single one of them was SO warm & friendly towards him. Many knew his name by the 2nd day! The Dining Staff always had his high chair ready to go for our My Time Dining seating, they always had his favorite foods waiting for him not long after we sat down so he didn't have to wait with the rest of us. And our stateroom attendant, Mennie, kept our cabin spotless at all times. She stopped by to introduce herself as soon as we first checked out our cabin and asked if we had any special requests. She learned our preferences and schedule very quickly and was practically a magician with how quickly she was able to clean our room so meticulously in such a short amount of time!

Cabin Review

Large Interior Stateroom

Cabin K

Compact but packs a punch! We shared out Interior cabin with our 17 month old and although it was a little tight with the crib in it, we made it work just fine. There is plenty of storage, especially with the recent renovations of the rooms as they added additional shelving and a cabinet in the bathroom. We had plenty of space for all of our belongings. Bed was super comfy! Ask for additional padding if the bed feels to hard. Great new flat panel TV. The room was close enough to all of the main areas but far enough from the elevators that it was quiet enough for our son to sleep peacefully. Heard music coming from the Centrum a few nights but it wasn't anything loud enough to disturb us. Nice little room!
