My family and I went on our first cruise on Disney Fantasy. We loved the boat, the experience, the shows on the boat, the cabin, the dining experience, the water slides, etc. We loved it so much that we are now planning to do another Disney cruise this year. The one thing that was a disappointment was Port Adventures. We are thinking that on our next strip that we will stay in the boat staying the 5-star things that you can do on a Disney boat and only disembark in Castway Cay rather than take our chances with Disney Port Adventures,

We did two Port Adventures in two ports, i.e. Puerto Rico and St. Maatern. The one in Puerto Rico was called "Paella - A Flair of Spain". It advertised by Disney as a port adventure where participants would get to make their own paella and eat over lunch while watching a flamenco show. First, we did not get to make our own paella. Second, we did not get to see a flamenco show, but rather a "flair of Latin America" with two dancers accompanied by a guitarist performing Cuban, Puero Rican, Paraguyan indian dances/songs, etc. The big disappoinntment is that we paid $109 per person and $79 per kid, so total of about $300 for this. We are asking Disney to refund our money.

The other Port Adventure that we did was in St. Maatern, where we did the "Afternoon Beach Bash Tour". We took a bus to go a beach that was 20 minutes away from the boat and only had about two hours on the beach. It was the Orient beach on the French side of St. Maatern. However, the beach was nothing remarkable. Even though it was a private beach, it was overcrowded. We were constantly bombarded by local ,merchants walking by our cabana to sell us over-priced stuff. We bought two hats at $15 per hat and then saw the same hats in Puerto Rico for $5/hat. We have two kids who are four years old and my ideal beach is "Castaway Cay". This was not. Lots of waves in this beach. Undertow. It was a good beach to learn how to boogie board. Another thing to watch out about this beach is that it's close to a nudist beach. Also, on the bus trip to the beach, the bus drives by a large building with a a big sign called "El Capitan" with pictures of two Latin ladies showcasing their over-sized bottom and wearing thongs. It would have been better if tour operator takes a different route to the beach. In summary, we loved our Disney cruise. We highly recommend ALL everything on the Disney Fantasy and Castaway Cay. We were disappointed by the Port Adventures.
