We've cruised Norwegian before, but this experience on this ship was not as good as prior experiences.

We booked a pre-cruise night at the Sofitel Hotel in Miami through NCL. It's comfortable with a nice dining room/bar area and a nice pool and garden area. It is very close to the airport, so you will hear jet noise, even when you think it should be quieter in the late or early hours. Our bus transfer to the pier was great and getting on board and through security and check in was easy. We drove to Miami, and the long-term parking rate at the hotel was the best, and it was only a $25 cab ride back after the cruise. You are required to prepay for parking while on the cruise, but when you get back after your cruise, you just present your parking ticket and off you go! It was a good deal! If you book a pre-cruise night through NCL, a rep comes over either the day before or the morning of the cruise to give you your luggage tags and check you in for the transfer to the pier. Do it the day before if at all possible, and save yourself the line in the morning.

As far as embarkation, we're Lattitudes members so we have a special procedure that gets us through faster, but I don't recall any long lines for regular check in. We went through security and check in quickly, just have your documents in order so you can help the process go quickly. Our room was ready when we boarded, but others had long waits. Luggage was slow to arrive, so we just found our bag and told a steward there we needed our bag now, and he was okay with that.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

Room was okay. Beds comfortable but short. Anyone over 5' 6" has their feet hanging off the bed. Bath was roomy, but the step up was awkward. Towels were comfy and plentiful. Shower does contain body wash and shampoo, and the sink has hand soap, but that's it. If you want a robe, you'll have to request it in advance, but there is no guarantee that you'll get it. Smokers in cabins on either side, so our balcony time was limited to when they were not using theirs--the cruise line says smoking on balconies is not permitted, but people do it anyway.
