This was our 1st full scale cruise as a couple and our 2nd Cruise Line we had travelled on. Our previous experience was a simple 2 night cruise on the P&O Cruises Arcadia and we wanted something a little more flexible in terms of dining options and a more "casual" approach. The cruise was for my wives 40th Birthday
Pre cruise booking & preparation
Our booking was made with the Agency Iglu Cruises approx 8 months before the Cruise. This was a pain free process with excellent communication and paid what seemed like a very reasonable offer. We decided to go with a night's stay in Rome a night before just for peace of mind. After registering our booking with the Norwegian Cruise website we were a little taken back by the on board prices for drinks and so opted to pre pay the soft drinks package for us both.
Our cabin was located midships and was ideal for ease of access to the main atrium, Garden cafe and Blue Lagoon Bistro. It was just right for our needs in terms of space, cupboard space and comfort. The bed (Queen sized) was very comfortable. The balcony was a pleasure to sit at day & night and again had ample space. The cabin was continuously kept pristine by the cabin steward and he certainly earn his service charge in providing a sufficient service to our needs. The only thing we would say was out of all the staff on the ship he was the least friendly hardly spoke a word and never smiled. That being said it was a great experience to get the famous towel animals and all were kept as a growing zoo throughout our cruise. The TV system was a little limited and it was rather annoying to have to tune in to one channel just to hear the majority of the ships announcements especially if you couldn't find the remote. Desk space was a little limited for writing/ make up etc but the bathroom was superb. again clean and functional throughout our stay. The cruise newsletter delivered daily provided ample information on the day's activities, weather and excursion tips.
