This was my first cruise out of Galveston. Aside from the weather, which was 46 degrees the day we boarded the ship, we enjoyed Galveston. The hotels were cheap, and there were great restaurants. We were told to be there by 10:30 for boarding, but they didn't begin boarding until well after 12:30, which was the latest by far we had ever boarded. Once we were on board, I was pleasantly surprise our room steward had put our bags inside our room, instead of leaving them outside. We always get an inside room, because I would much rather spend our money in port.
Once we left port, immediately, I felt more movement on the ship than any other cruise we had been on. We asked our server in the MDR, and he said this was normal. I am not one who typically gets sea sick but I was fully aware of the movement of the ship. The first 24 hours the temp was cool. The kids couldn't play at the water park or the ropes course because it was too windy and cool. Our two port days were nice and toasty, but the two sea days, were pretty chilly.
MDR: We ate dinner in Southern Lights every night, we had a large group with two large tables. Our waiters were WONDERFUL. Ricardo, was simply amazing. The food, was very good, always a good variety. I will say the chocolate melting cake was basically brownie batter. Someone at our table ordered it every night and it was never cooked.
Our room was a typical inside room, with a pull down bed for one. We unpacked our bags, hung things up, so we weren't tripping over suitcases, and other items since space in precious. I was a little bummed that we didn't have any freebies in the bath room! Previously, we had toothpaste, and sunscreen, etc. As far as the sound level, I didn't hear a lot of outside noise from either below or above us.
