Sail Date: Feb 2015
Cabin: Balcony

We sailed on the Carnival Breeze on Feb 28. The ship was beautiful -- muted tones are a welcome change to other Carnival ships. Good food, great service from Arnold, our cabin steward, and Alvin and Joan, our waiters. As with other Carnival cruises I've been on, the one thing Carnival lacks is an ability to receive and deal with complaints. They May (or may not) apologize for inconvenience, but I never feel they mean it. And they never offer any compensation to make it right. A free drink or meal at the steakhouse would be easy for them, but mean the world to a passenger. Even if you can't do anything about the complaint, good customer service would dictate a "we really are sorry" token...that is what will ensure repeat cruisers.

The one serious complaint was our cabin placement. As soon as I walked into cabin 6388, I smelled smoke -- which I thought was strange. As we walked out onto our balcony, we realized we were directly above one of several smoking areas on the ship. I had read the reviews and didn't expect privacy on our balcony, but nowhere did I read about the smoking thing. Suffice to say I would never book a cabin on the 6th deck again due to lack of privacy on the balcony and noise from the 5th deck, but I would particularly note that non smokers want to avoid cabin 6388, 6392 and a few more on either side of these.

The Carnival melting cake was still great, an invite to the "gold" members party was nice, and our cruise was what I've come to expect from Carnival. Satisfactory, but no "WOW" factor.

Cabin 8B

One of several smoking areas on the ship is directly below. Do not book this cabin if you want to sit on your balcony and breathe fresh air! Also quite noisy (squeak in the wall somehow), and loud music from below until 12 midnight every night. The squeak in the wall drove me nuts, but the smoke was really what disappointed me. The music was loud, but quite good if your not an early sleeper.
