Cruised the Equinox from Feb. 23 thru March 6th and must say we had an overall great time. The ship was in terrific shape and the ports were great as well as the weather We had a bit of a tough start. The ship was being Sanitized from top to bottom because of a recent outbreak of the nor virus the sailing prior. This cause a late departure and even later ability to enter the staterooms. There is no fault to be cast because it was a necessary inconvenience . But it did really make for a stressful first day and a lot of extra complaining from the grey hairs. I also must say this was the longest Muster Drill I have ever encountered, again a necessary evil. After finally being able to enter the cabin we were pleasantly surprise. This was a frugal trip for us so we booked an inside in deck 8 and were surprised by the size and layout for the room and bathroom. Plenty of storage and the best shower we have had outside of a suite. Our cabin steward was a great person but was overworked from the start. He did a superb job for us and any little request that we had he fulfilled quickly. The overall appearance of the ship was great with a really good flow throughout. We spent little time in the lawn club but really enjoyed the Glass show. What a great feature. The pool deck and the solarium were both great areas to spend time on the sea days. Though crowded I could always find a lounger in the sun while my fair skinned wife snuggled up to read her book in a shaded corner. It was nice seeing the pool attendants making a sweep occasionally to pick up discarded or unused towels thereby freeing up loungers. The shops that we walked thru are the same as we've seen on all cruise ships and the sales merchandise really was nothing special and a lot of the time priced the same everyday It was nice that with so many people having the free drink package the pressure to buy, buy , buy was very minimal on this cruise. I did enjoy the casino several time and even played the same $20 at the poker slots for 4 nights before I donated it to the ships purse. Lounges were fun for the most part especially Celebrity central whichh had some great entertainment venues going on. The dining experience onboard ranged from good to very good and only the first night where we dined at the silk harvest would I rate the experience exceptional. This night Not only the food but the staff and the ambience were outstanding. We had select dining which really works well for us as we like to dine alone but will always chat with those at the tables next to us. We just are not a 2 hour for diner group. We had a great wait staff in the back of the ship in the private room with Jonathan and his assistant Marco. They were exceptional and a lot of fun every night. We really enjoyed there efforts and the food they delivered was always hot and well presented. Overall the food was very good and on a couple occasions was exceptional .Definitely one of the best cuts of prime I have had in a long time and the Twin lobster tails were great. We were happy that, though the portions were not large, the variety of choices for the several courses never left us hungry and we never left overly stuffed. For breakfast and lunch we used the food court buffet and though it was buffet food I thought it was still better than most ships we have been on. Omelets were great for mornings and the Panini and pizza good for lunch. Always a fan of fresh salads and fresh fruit. There were time when the buffet would get crowded but all seemed to move fairly well. We waited till the end of the cruise when they offered 2 for 1 dining and we booked the Tuscan Grill at the back of the ship on deck 5. a perfect setting for another really good meal. The steak was great but the pasta was a little overdone. Really.... The entertainment was on of the weakest parts of the cruise for us. We enjoyed all the shows especially the first woman performer who was on Norway's got talent. She had an exceptional voice and was a great Pianist to boot. Also enjoyed the Juggler and the comedian. production shows were better than the reviews had lead us to believe. Kudos to the acrobatic couple who gave the shows a upscale element. The 2 entertainment groups were good for casual evening entertainment Overall we had a very enjoyable cruise with a great itinerary on a great ship and look forward to sailing Celebrity again in the near future

Good cruise all around

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom
Cabin 10 8184
Cabin #8184 was an inside just forward of mid ship. Layout was great with adequate room for the 2 of us. Loved the extra storage above the bed but it was a little awkward getting to it. Closet was a little narrow but held a lot of clothes. Enjoyed the extra space in the shower. Really made a difference. Overall on of the better rooms we have had outside a balcony. The location was great and very quiet.

having been to Cozumel many times both on cruises and staying there on vacations we decided to just spend the day at Mr. Sancho's Beach Club. We took a taxi to and from the club that cost us $15.00 each way and did the pay as you go. Which after 2 beers the entire trip cost us $40 dollars. The day was great with plenty of sun and surf. Went back to the boat for a late lunch and finished the day at Senior Frogs for some good times Take your taxi early by 10:00 the lime was 45 minutes long because of the 7 cruise ship that were in port.

Booked a day with Eduardo Humphreys-6 in 1 tour. For the most part the tour was really fascinating. We started with a brief stp at a fruit stand. Tasted some great local fruit. stopped at the dole banana plantation, being sunday it was closed but still had an interesting visit. Nextwas the jungle boat ride where we saw a great number of sloths and a few howler monkeys in there natural habitat and a great selection of local birds. Also caught sight of a Cayman. the highlight for me was the visit to the wildlife rescue center which unfortunately is being forced to relocate or shut down. We were able to hold a young sloth and to see several more as well as monkeys and a few other native birds and animals. We finished the tour with a stop at a hilltop bar and then a quick stop at a local market. These last 2 stops I could have done without, Must be family owned.

  • City Tour
booked an independent with Marelvy Pena and had a great time visiting the La Popa monastery with it's great view stopped at the fortress San Felipe and a brief shopping visit and then finished with a 2 hr. tour inside the old city. This was the highlight of the tour with magnificent architecture and great parks. I just wish they could get a better control of the street vendors. They were some of the worst we have encountered outside of Jamaica. Always pushing the same 3-4 items.

booked with myfriendmario which did a scenic drive with a short walk thru a rainforest path, Saw a few howler monkeys on the way to Fort San Lorenzo with it's breathtaking views and then finished with a 1 hr. stop at Gatun locks which was absolutely awesome to witness. I was truly surprised and impressed by what I learned and then saw first hand. This is a must see Overall had a great tour guide.

  • Snorkeling
Spent a lazy morning on the ship then picked up an afternoon snorkeling on Goff's Caye. What a great way to spend the day in Belize. We have been there before and had been told to get off the land and spend the day in the magnificent waters around Belize this time we listened and it was some of the best snorkeling I have ever experienced. Would have like to have seen more schools of tropical fish but the 3 1/2 ft. barracuda more than made up for it. Island itself was really nice to just relax on. The boat ride back was the only part of the trip we did not enjoy. Boat was really overloaded and those of us in the back were soaked like water rats by the time we got ashore.

Took a taxi to seven mile beach and spent a lovely day basking in the sun and swimming. Cost for the trip was $30. Great way to start a vacation.
