My husband, brother cousin and I were so looking forward tospending 14 days of sunshine on the Ryandam and its various destinations, moat of which we had seen on previous sailings. We embarked in Tampa, very efficient and looked forward to a nice lunch. The food was very good for the whole trip. This incluced a Pinacle meal and a Le Cercle dinner. These were outstanding, from the service to the presentation and the food itself. Excellent quality and a nice selection.

Our cabin crew were nice and efficient as were the other crew members. The entertainment was good and the guests seemed to enjoy the variety on offer.

However, there wa a cough circulating the ship from what seems to have been day one to when we disembarked. My husband came down at the beginning of the second week and was so ill he went to see the ship's doctor and was provided with antibiotics and pain killers. I then came down with the illness. Both of us ended up with pneumonia which we are still trying to recover. Essentially our vacation was ruined because of this illness. I feel theere is not enough time delegated to the cleaning of the ship from one cruise to the next, a three hour time period. This does not allow for proper cleaning of bugs, viruses etc which are then free to recitculate. We heard of several people who had come down with what I call the HAC, the Holland America Cough. I am so disappointed that our long awaited holiday was cut off so completely and we are so unhappy with the lack of response from Holland America that we will probably not cruise any more. What a sad ending to something we have enjoyed with the company for over ten years.
