Just returned and wanted to give some feedback on the Jewel. She is still a Jewel. We sailed her back in 2005, transatlantic repositioning, Barcelona to Miami. I thought she was so different then and still is today. The colors are bright and airy. Very Caribbean. Not the usual cruise ship. Very clean ship with lots of "washy - washy" being promoted.

This cruise we had the family suite # 11024. Very roomy for just the two of us. We could have fit two or three grandkids in the spare room with no problem, but would have been tight for teens or adults. Not a lot of closet or drawer space in the room, but we were able to utilize both rooms and had an extraordinary amount of storage. A very pretty flower arrangement was in the suite, three bottles of champagne (which I was happy to give to others celebrating on this cruise) were delivered on day two with a bowl of fresh fruit and Godiva chocolates, ( (we hoarded the chocolates). Canapés were delivered every afternoon. DH loved the chocolate chip cookies. Also delivered were chocolate covered strawberries (twice), finger sandwiches, assortment of chocolate confections, cheese and crackers, cake, and canapés. We really didn't need to go out to eat with all the food the butler brought us.

We didn't use the butler Teodore, but he was always there just in case. Anthony, room steward kept the room tidy.

Cabin Review

Family Penthouse with Balcony

Cabin SC

Very nice suite, but not enough storage (drawers) if you have more than two in the cabin. Beds were ok. Did not use sofa bed, could not imagine having more than four in this cabin. The curtain between master bedroom and master bath was not adequate. Too much noise when trying to sleep with someone using the toilet or showering. Very little privacy if you are shy in the bath area.Great to have the extra bathroom available. It was bigger than most cabin baths. The master bathroom was very roomy with double sinks and lots of counter top. Loved the window in the shower and over tub. The master was very narrow, about two feet and long. Very good water pressure.Small balcony but big enough for two.Nice coffee maker with hot water for tea. Small refrigerator for drinks. No big problem with noise. A few chairs being dragged overhead was heard at times. Pretty quite most other times.
