The Norwegian Breakaway is HUGE! There are activities available all day long with something new every hour and are all listed in the daily newsletter left on your bed each evening (with some mints!) or found in the main lobby. They offer many excursions to fit the needs of all ages. There is a kids and teenage club, I did not visit them. The main dining rooms offer a nice variety of meals and the Garden Buffet has a nice assortment as well...I loved the pasta station and by the time the cruise was 1/2 way through, the man preparing it to order, already knew mine (any choice in pasta plus onion, garlic and tomato sauce!). The specialty restaurants offer several cuisines...my two favorites were Cagneys (for steak or fish) and Teppanyaki (seafood entree was fabulous) and you go there for the show and technique watching. However, if you have a yen for the truly finer tastes in dining, do not go with that expectation anywhere on the ship as it won't meet them. Our cabin was small...okay for 2 people, wouldn't want to have to squeeze 4 people in it for more than a day or so. Our cabin steward, Gary, was terrific! The room was always clean and neat and he attended to all our needs, whatever they might be. The biggest drawback on this ship is that when you enter your cabin, you have to put your room key in a slot in order to turn on the electricity! So, before going to sleep, if I wanted to watch the limited choice in tv programs, I couldn't unless we had lights on, too. The electricity was off for sleeping, but late night trips to the restroom required a small flashlight (brought from home) to get around. By the end of the cruise, I was able to navigate, but I would have preferred to have been able to leave a light on. Just a note....if you have any issues with walking, you should request a cabin closer to the elevators as this area is down a long corridor and then after a turn, it's inside another corridor. However, the room is closest to the elevators which get you to most of the areas you will want to spend time in while on board. The casino was fun. There were some big winners that week, but, alas, not me! Still I had fun. While we did take the specialty dining package (try to make your reservations in advance as they do fill up quickly), we opted not to take the soda or alcohol packages offered. We just don't drink enough alcohol to make it worth our while. Nor are we soda drinkers. The ice tea is available and is quite refreshing! The shows were exciting and if you can, I do recommend booking as much as you can as far in advance as possible. Hard to tell you about the water temperature in the pool because it was too cold to get in and it rained some as well. Many kids took over the hot tubs or I might have tried them. We had plenty of time to relax, read, sleep, eat and drink and get to know some other guests from all parts of the world!!!! If you are leaving from New York City, it's best to get there either really early or much later....in the middle will cause you to wait on a VERY long line just get inside the port and to get on another long line to register.
