We are frequent cruisers with Royal and have done this same itinerary in February for 3 years. This year, the winds and the rocking were more like the North Sea instead of the Caribbean. Because of the winds and the rough water, they had to cancel the port of Grand Cayman. That was unfortunate, but safety is the most important thing to consider. They made the right choice. The ship was great, the food was great and the service from the "My Time" wait staff was excellent. We had Gabriel and Emily at table 521 in My Time. They had perfect pacing for the meals. They were attentive - without being intrusive - and always smiling and making us feel welcome at their table. The meal was completed in just over an hour every night. Their suggestions turned out to be spot-on for the best food. One night, we ordered a pork roast instead of the tiger shrimp (like they suggested)... We were picking at the pork roast- when Gabriel showed up with 2 plates of the tiger shrimp.. He had the biggest smile on his face. He had noticed. We immediately switched to the shrimp plate and really appreciated him bringing it out without being asked... The shrimp was delicious THAT is the WOW service we have usually had on Royal! There were a few things that we noticed that were different- and not as great. We had a junior suite. First, we noticed that the cocktail table had been removed from the cabin and replaced with a hassock. There was no way that we could have room service breakfast on a hassock. They had to put the tray on the sofa. We finally dragged the patio table inside to have a decent place to eat... PLEASE put the table back in the cabin. The activities director was never to be seen except at the beginning of the shows. She did nothing to get the crowd stimulated and it carried thru to the shows. We also noticed that the production show entertainment seemed to be going through the motions without any real enthusiasm. The energy just wasn't there. Singers and dancers were not representative of the professionals we have experienced on Royal in the past. The ventriloquist was very entertaining and was by far the highlight of the week. The only real problem came on the last day of the cruise. We went to the photo shop to pick our favorite photos. There were NO PRINTED PHOTOS to look at - only on the monitor - and they all had writing all over them - so you couldn't really tell what the picture was going to look like. We asked to see the photos without the writing - Told No - because we might take pictures of them & not purchase the ones from the staff. (We are Diamond Plus and get 2 free). After looking at each photo (as best we could), we chose 2 that were what we considered worthy of an 8X10. We were told that it would take over 4 hours to have them printed and they would not be available until after dinner that night. After dinner, we went to pick them up and they looked awful. The color was muted. We looked like we had just passed through a dust storm and were covered in gray dust. We were not offered any other choice but to take the photos offered. We asked if they could be reprinted with true colors - Told NO. This is NOT EXCELLENT Service. We are embarrassed to show these photos to anybody and tell them that they represent what Royal Caribbean calls acceptable. We left this cruise on a disappointed note. Bottom line: Ship was beautiful and clean and easy to get around. The dining was excellent for both the food quality and the amount served. The service was superb from the embarkation to the dining staff to the front desk and bar service.

Ship great - Weather awful - Photo Shop should be ashamed

Cabin Review

Cabin 9318
Cabin was very nice. More room than an normal junior suite. We were very near the elevator and the concierge lounge. REALLY NEEDS a table for eating instead of the foot stool they had.
