Cabin: Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Overall, this was a wonderful cruise. As far as the ship is concerned, it is beautiful, clean and runs like a well-oiled machine. We had a balcony stateroom and I was very impressed with the layout and functionality of a room its size. It appeared to me that every inch of the stateroom was used as efficiently as possible. Lots of storage - even in the bathroom! I will let you know that there was no plug-in in the bathroom....unless you have an electric shaver. There is a proprietary one for that in the bathroom. They do have a nice area in the main area with a large, lit mirror, chair and 3 plugs for doing hair and makeup. Between us we had 4 large/medium and 4 carry-on size pieces of luggage. All were stowed under the bed, except for one. It wasn't that there wasn't room under the bed, but it was a duffle-style suitcase with hard ends that were too tall to fit underneath the bed. We stood it on its end and managed quite nicely. Didn't really even notice it. It would have fit in the closet if there had been any floor space left!

The dining room menu was fine. I actually had two or three things that were excellent. The Windjammer was convenient for us for a quick breakfast as we left for an island visit. We ate at some of the pay dining options. All of them were VERY good I thought. Mexican food was delicious. We ate there a couple of times. Johnny Rockets was great and right on par with their land locations. The two stand-outs for us were Giovanni's and 150 Central Park. We were VERY pleased with our meals at those places.

At Giovanni's we walked in one evening about 9:30 and were seated immediately (no reservation). We opted to sit out in the 'park'. There was violin and piano music which was lovely. The food was great, but the standout for our meal there was our server. He was very attentive and pleasant to speak with. The night we ate was one of a couple there were showers off and on. It sprinkled a little, but were were somewhat protected and even though the staff offered several times to move us inside, we opted to stay out. It was just so nice we didn't even mind a few sprinkles.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D4

The room was great! Lots of storage in the room AND in the bathroom. No plugs in the bathroom, but there are three in the main room where the lighted mirror and chair are. This room is aft and port side (I think it was). It was very near the elevator and was very convenient. The room was very quiet as we never heard anything except children in the hallway once. The curtains block the light well. One morning we were tired and wanted to sleep in. Keeping the room dark was great for that. I love a balcony. Sleeping with the door open and listening to the water is so therapeutic. I thought the bed felt firm at first, but my hips didn't complain once during the entire trip and I slept like a baby. I was very pleased with the room overall - and with our porter.
