This was my fourth cruise on the Holland American Nieuw Amsterdam. It included the Western and eastern carribean totalling 14 days. We have all seen the cruise industry cutting back and charging more. Gas goes up and we get a surcharge but now that it is down, we pay the same.
My biggest complaint was the cabin. We most always get an inside cabin and find it fills our needs perfectly. This year, the cabin assigned was apparently under a dance floor or maybe a railroad. In the afternoons, the noise of things being moved and pushed around was incredible. It would usually continue until 2 AM and then start again about 4:30-5 AM. Then accompaning the rumbling, some sort of music was going on.
Later in the cruise, I went to the ship's Doctor and while there, asked the Doctor about a sinus condition that came on and was out of control the whole cruise if/when I was in my cabin. I suggested mold but the Doctor said it was probably the blame of the cleaning supplies. I actually empties 7 boxes of their tissues and left a few partially used.
