We just had a very nice cruise on Oasis - it's definitely a beautiful ship with lots to do, is kept very clean. I particularly liked seeing and using all of the Purell stations - it seems that they try to do everything possible to avoid the dreaded norovirus. I don't have anything bad to say about it, but nothing was particularly outstanding, either - service did seem to suffer with this size ship. Not that it was bad, just not the level we have experienced on our previous 2 RC cruises on Liberty and Mariner. Dining room service in particular - it just seemed that the waiters had about 3 too many tables to take care of. Chops was another story - wonderful service there, as well as wonderful food. Also, Windjammer and the cafes seemed to run out of things frequently - like the cookies that we always like to grab as we walk by, or a particular kind of pizza, and things were not replenished quickly. Lines were long - we rarely at in Windjammer because of the long lines at normal mealtimes. Johnny Rockets was our favorite place to have lunch - we ate there 3 times - it was never crowded and service was great. Also Cups and Scoops was a favorite with my husband, but both of those places had a surcharge. Also, I had the beverage package with the soft drinks and it was a Royal pain to carry the cup around with me - especially since the special drink machines were only in Windjammer and Sorrentos, as far as I saw. I soon realized that I could just show my card and get a soft drink at the bars, and that was easier. Entertainment was good, although I do question the decision to have Cats as the Broadway show - why not something more fun and easy to follow? A significant portion of the audience left at intermission. Our cabin was a balcony cabin on the "bump out" - comparable to the ones we had on Mariner and Liberty. There was a nasty looking "splatter" of "something" in the bathroom, and when we pointed it out to our attendant he told us that it had been there for awhile and he had placed a work order, but it hadn't been taken care of and "don't worry about that". Yuk. I just tried to ignore it all week. The insides of the drawers seemed a little dirty, as well. But overall, the cruise was great - we just did island tours on St. Thomas and St. Maartin, as we are not snorkelers or beach people - just enjoy the ship and cruising experience. I might check out other lines the next time we cruise - there doesn't seem to be a lot of incentive to stay with Royal Caribbean in terms of perks to previous cruisers - seems you have to go a lot to get perks, and we are not people who wish to cruise for every vacation. So - my recommendation would be this - go, but be aware that service might not be as great as on a smaller ship. If you have kids and are going for the characters, I think I saw two of them the whole cruise and there were long lines to have pictures made both times. I think it just depends on what you want from your vacation.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Large Balcony

Cabin D1

On the "bump out", so larger balcony. Nice and clean for the most part. Nasty "something" had been splattered in the bathroom wall opposite the toilet. Stateroom attendant told us that it had been there for awhile, work order had been placed and nothing done yet. Apparently wouldn't scrub off - we were told "don't worry about it" so I tried to ignore it all week. Bottoms of drawers kind of dirty looking, so I lined them with plastic or paper. Attendant kept it clean all week - we didn't see much of him, but that's ok. It would have been nice to have some extra towels, but we never saw him to ask. Level of service was what was expected, but nothing more. But that's ok - we had no complaints with him.
