As other contributors to Tripadvisor will be aware, reviews of hotels, attractions and cruises can often vary between awful and marvellous and it makes you wonder if these polarised opinions can possibly be of the same holiday. My wife and I have just returned from a seven night cruise of the Canary Islands on Thomson Majesty. We have cruised with a number of cruise lines including Royal Caribbean, Costa and NCL and we were a bit apprehensive about Thomson Majesty after reading some of the less positive reviews. I can honestly say that our cruise with Thomson Majesty was one of the best cruises we have been on. The food was of excellent quality, both in the restaurants and the buffet and, although the variety wasn't as extensive as some of the bigger cruise lines, it was more than adequate. The entertainment was provided by the ship's own show staff and was just as good as some of the shows we have seen on bigger cruise lines. The singers and dancers put 100% enthusiasm into all their shows. Our cabin was 804 and was one of the ones that were converted to a balcony cabin last year. The cabin was more spacious than I thought it would be and it was located right behind the bridge. Prior to going, I looked at the plans of the ship and was a bit concerned that our balcony would be next to an outside staircase and that we'd have people passing by our balcony on a regular basis, however this staircase has been roped off and it's only for emergency use. The cabin was very quiet being near the front of the ship. I heard other people mention that the inside lower cabins were a bit stuffy. The staff on the ship could not have been more pleasant and our cabin staff, Zornitsa and Ivan were so friendly. We would definitely cruise with Thomson Majesty again.
