Celebrity Century 25 Jan 2015
This was one of the last voyages of the Century before she sailed off into a new life under Chinese ownership in April 2015, and in many ways she is a product of the last century. She feels solid, has a decor with lots of wood (much of it actual wood!) and does not lower herself to some of the bling that is hard to avoid in more modern ships. This voyage almost had the feel of being back in the grand days of cruising.
Embarkation at Singapore's Marina Bay Cruise Terminal was very efficient, and mercifully involved a minimum of standing. We were having a welcoming drink within an hour, and shortly thereafter enjoying a very good lunch at the Islands Cafe. We shared table with some seasoned sailors on other other cruise lines, and they were very impressed with the quality of food - we were too. By 1.15pm our cabins were ready for us. Ours, a balcony (or as Celebrity term it a veranda) was generously proportioned with cavernous storage space, a flat screen TV with ample selection of channels, a comfortable bed - all you need.
