We sailed on the Dawn Jan. 25 and in most ways had a nice cruise.
But the part that wasn't nice was really, really not nice. Our toilet wouldn't flush for much of the trip. What started the first day as a toilet slow to flush turned into a really aggravating monster. We called or visited guest services 10 to 12 times. Most of the people we talked to were sympathetic and said they'd "take care of it." Despite many visits from maintenance people, the problem never was fixed for more than a few hours at a time.
I think the kicker, though, and the reason we'll never sail NCL again, is that the hotel director, was so callous when we asked to meet with her. My wife suggested we talk to her because she wanted to make sure someone higher up heard about the problem. I thought we should see her because at the Cruise Critic Meet and Greet, it was emphasized that they'd like to hear about problems firsthand while we were still aboard, rather than people just waiting and complaining online. Anyhow, after a token apology, she just said we were unlucky to have cabin 9600, because that's one of the cabins frequently affected by plumbing problems.
In most ways this cabin was fine other than the tiny balcony, which I guess is standard on Norwegian. But the big problem was that the toilet would not flush and required constant "fixing," with little success in the end. Apparently, it's not unusual to have this problem in this room. I won't say it "wrecked" our cruise, but it sure messed it up.
