On Jan. 18th we set sail for a port intensive cruise to the Caribbean. This 14 night cruise visited 8 Caribbean islands. However this is our feelings about the ship in general. Not the islands. Just to let you know, this was our 47th cruise, so we are not wide eyed rookies. Having reached elite level on Celebrity shows we have a good impression of the way they do business. First off, there was a problem in Miami which held up over 1000 people from getting on the ship. But I consider that just one of those things that happen from time to time and not the usual. We still got on in plenty of time before sailing. On the positive side, the perks for elite level are the best I have found on any ship. One outstanding one is that we were invited to go out onto the helipad while departing St. Thomas. Never had that before. Another positive is that the ship as always was neat and clean. The workers were all very friendly.
For some points that I cannot say were outstanding. First the food was very average, almost mediocre. The buffet (Oceanview Cafe) was poorly laid out and some mornings we found the food moved from one area one day to another the next. On the last 2 days they started to run out of things like half and half for our coffee. Another trivial point is the disappearance of chocolates on our pillow each night. This ship does have the glass blowing show which is interesting. The main show ranged from great to mediocre depending on ones taste.
They told us this ship is going into dry dock around April. Not sure how much they can improve it, since everything is a matter of taste.
Room was kept perfectly clean by the stewards.
