So I'm a first time cruiser and was looking for an inexpensive way to get some sun during the winter and cruising seemed to fit the bill - much cheaper than a resort. Overall - it was a great value, I enjoyed it. It was a great way to travel if you're looking to get some sun and "getaway" from it all - this is a good ship. Set manageable expectations regarding size, crowds, etc and you'll be fine.
Studios:
The studio concept on NCL Epic (and now some other NCL Ships) is absolutely brilliant. We had our own lounge, cruise director and nightly mixers (read NOT a happy hour with drink specials as they used to do, according to other reviews). I was initially worried about the type of people that would be in the studios (age, etc) and was delightfully surprised at the unique mix of ages, backgrounds, etc. Someone could easily find another person or group to hang out with for the week.
Beautifully arranged space with plenty of storage for one. Good value for the money. Some good tips I received for the room:If you like your room absolutely black at night, bring some black electrical tape to cover up the light switches that glow blue. Also, the phone screen can be dimmed by pressing the light bulb icon on the upper right corner of the screen.Bring extra hangars and suction cup hooks that can go in the bathroom for drying swimsuits, etc.Don't forget the two baskets under the bed for additional storage.
