We previously sailed for 7 and then 20 nights on the Royal and 10 this time. The Royal is a beautiful ship and the service is outstanding. I laugh at some of the critical remarks from other reviewers. You can't pleae everyone everytime. Sure, there were some bumps on the cruise, but if you can't roll with the punches, you shouldn't be travelling, regardless of by ship, train, plane, bus or car.
We were with another couple and selected our usual anytime dining. The first night is always a problem getting seated when you want, but after that night, we never had to wait more than 3 to 4 minutes. The food in the MDR lived up to our expectations, except the Caribbean entree every night. We never had anyone order it. I did have one appetizer and one soup from their Caribbean offerings, but will stick with the good old offerings from now own (we're going on the Regal in a month and then the Royal again in Nov. for another 20 days. The quality and temperature of the food was right where it should be....one of our traveling partners is a very finicky eater....she enjoyed the food. My wife needs food that is gluten, dairy, egg, and tomato free....every night a head waiter brings the menu for the following night and they decide what she can eat and how it's prepared. They even make her special desserts every night! The best one...cheesecake that was gluten, dairy, and egg free....it even tasted like cheese cake. Her only complaint is when she orders gluten free pasta, they bring a bowl with enough to feed 4 people!!
We have 35 cruises, 28 of which are on Princess.....and we anticipate that the rest we take will be almost all on Princess. We're Elite members so embarkation and disembarking is no problem for us
just another cabin....enough room but small balcony
