Just trying out Quantum of the Seas. 12 day to caribbean. We got to Rm. 3612 0n third floor, which was a good location. Unpacked and settled in to find the room had a loud "metal chain" type noise that would have caused us to not be able to sleep. After much hassling with Guest Services in way too many lines, we moved to Rm. 3232 only to find that night that the Latin night club Bolero was diectly on top of us!! Ugh!! More hassling and a declined move to 8th floor at the front of the ship, and Bolerous noise calmed down. Liked the room location for easy proximity to restaurants, 270 Cafe and ease of getting to Diamond Club. With all the changes of restaurants and entertainment locations, hard to get connected with guests and servers/help. Staff seemed frustrated/over worked, and too not really like the new system. Ports of Call were good: Puerto Rico had a San Sebastian celebration on the streets; St.Marteen beach; Martinique was very french - went to Forts, downtown; Barbados - walked downtown to see bridges; harbor & beers downtown; Basseterre St. Kits British - shopping, churches, chinese kabobs/mash potatoes/mashed plantains from truck @ Independence Square park, bought Tshirts.

Restaurants were varied for cusine, but the pre-booking was a mess. Many passengers were really upset and frustrated. Expensive cruise that has a lot of possibilities for dissappointment. Best things: free restaurants - 270 Café, Chic, Silk and Grande and Devinely Decadent. All excellent. Got complimentary dinner at Wonderland - food was very rich/unusual and generally good, servers wore velour coats with tails, restaurant was noisy off the prominade interior, and detracted from the experience; cost a whopping $45/person - not worth the cost. Chic had dinner served cold one night, American Icon Grill so-so and Windjammer well laid out, but food was just ok; I Fly, The Arm, Flow Rider, bumper cars (went about 10 times), Air Hockey ($2) and fussball, 4 ping pong tables (busy with kids); Diamond Lounge spilled over to Music Hall, so drinks weren't counted & you could still go to any bar for 3 drinks/person/night. Good & bad!! Moma Mia, 3D movies (Godzilla, Gravity), and Stargate trapese / dance / singing shows some of the best we have ever seen, even in Vegas.

Not So Good: gym was small for size of ship. Only six bikes, two rowing machines (my favorite) and the stretch/abs class area was multilevel/cramped/hot, instructors were late also multiple times. The actual equipment was ok, but limited and area got very hot (had to wash gym shirt every day). Solarium was well laid out, but was hot also and multiple hot tubs were chlorinated so strong, it burnt your eyes. Hard to get to the exterior of the ship, and if you did it was a smoking area. Prominade deck didn't go around the ship, so couldn't walk laps. On board room display was clunky, and not good for getting information other than billing. Movie channels were limited, and pay movies were $11.99!! Alot of people smoked and kids were unruly. Met with VP Food/Beverage Brian Abel and the dynamic dining is the bet for RCL, with Anthem and Quantum 2 coming. Only 20% of Americans having cruised, and younger wanting more choices in dining/entertainment and high tech features (Royal iQ), they have to get right. Looks to still be "in progress". If you update dining @ restaraunt reservation person, it doesn't get back to the Royal i Q or In Room TV/Royal System. No prices on speciality restaurants are shown on screen. Reservations don't coordinate with/between dining & entertainment. Never saw the full performance of Starwater. OV room was good - alot of storage, room length was good for separations of occupants, room steward was good, bed fine, HVAC good and multiple plugs, great shower.
