There was nowhere on the ship to escape the smoke. People were smoking on their balconies which clearly interfered with our enjoyment of the balcony in our room. The casino and bar were filled with smoke....and you have to navigate this area in order to reach the dining rooms in the evenings. Even the pool deck had a large smoking area. This should have been advertised as a smoking friendly cruise....which would have given us the opportunity to choose another cruise line.

The ship is very old and very dirty. The attention paid to sanitation and cleanliness, especially at the Buffett ( where antiseptic hand cleaner is evident....but never used or its use enforced) where people seem to place much emphasis on eating huge amounts of cafeteria food and paying to drink voluminous amounts of alcohol. This is definitely a low end cruise but for first timers or those who find a floating cash bar a great vacation they might find the experience fun....just be aware that there is much better out there.

The ship was old and the suite we were in 7322 had stained dirty carpet. The leather day bed was broken, there was a filthy "coverlet" on the bed and the sheets and towels were threadbare. The inside of the drawers were stained, the light bulbs in the changing area were out and the tub couldn't be cleaned no matter how hard the steward tried. The furniture was dented and scratched and the dust ruffle looked like it had never, ever been cleaned. The TV had seven channels trying to sell me Carnival related items/activities and the movies were pay-per-view. I do have photographs which I will gladly send to you but my advice would be to have your officers take five thousand dollars out of their pay for the "privilege" of spending their weeks vacation in suite 7322 on the Carnival Conquest. Then send them a survey to see how their holiday was and how much they enjoyed their cruise!
