Just returned from 5 nights SOLO on RC Liberty of the Seas. I've always wanted to cruise in January so I can complete my list of having cruised in every month of the year. I had my first aft-facing cabin 1704. I read favorable reviews despite the odd aft lay-out. My first impression was shock. I hated it and called to move. Long story short they claimed they were booked and could not move me to another balcony; so I decided to make the best of it. I did not like looking down on the people below me nor having them look up at me. I hated the steel guard rails around the aft as it was a distraction of the view. At night there were lights from other cabins and from the bottom deck that ruined the effect I love of sitting on the balcony at night and seeing stars and moon light. During the day it was quiet and I sat out and read. Occasionally, the people on one side came out for a while and were rather noisy but they didn't set up camp.

The January weather at seas was perfect but when we pulled into Labadee it was a total wash out. Rained ALLLLLLLLLL day. As soon as we pulled out to see it cleared up. When we got to Ocho Rios the next morning the weather was better still overcast with VERY choppy water. I spent the day at one of the Sandals Resorts but could not snorkel.

The ship was cool! I had $269.00 in obc's to use. I enjoyed my meal at Portofinos but Chops Grille was overrated. This cruise was just BLAH for me. Wish I had saved the money!

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

Loved the view but hated the lay-out. Don't like looking down at other people. Not private enough for me. It was quiet and had its good moments.
