On cruises I’ve often marveled that I’ve been barely aware that there are thousands on board. On NCL’s Breakaway I felt cramped ALL the time.
• On the top deck, the ship has an exclusive area called “The Haven” for its suite guests. It stretches all the way from the front of the ship to the start of mid ship and is half the width of the ship. It has a swimming pool the size of most ship’s pools, large hot tubs, and spacious indoor and outdoor lounge chair areas. It’s nice for those few passengers, but it does make the pool area for the rest of the passengers cramped leaving no space between chairs. Even so it was often impossible to find a free seat. Added to this, there is an area right next to the pool that is reserved for smokers and of course the smoke carries everywhere on that side of the deck. There is also a bar adjacent to the pool where smoking is permitted too.
• Even though it’s a 4000 passenger ship, there are only 2 sets of elevators (one at the aft; the other forward) resulting in a lot more walking.
No drawers in the cabin which meant the cabin always looked untidy with clothes sitting on narrow shelves. Both keys didn't work so we had to line up at customer service for replacementsThe soap dish still had soap on it and the glass holders had thick dust on top. Both mattresses were stained. The room still wasn't ready 2 hours later and the cabin steward said he was only half-way through cleaning the room (it was now 8 pm). After lining up again at customer service I was able to get into the room.Next day noticed the carpet was badly stained
