I went on Royal princess with my boyfriend and we were a little bit disappointed. The embarkation process was very inconvenient. We arrived around 11am,checked in and set in the terminal till 1215 when they started to board the ship./We were on other cruise lines and after check-in after10am,you could go on the ship and enjoy public areas while waiting for you room to be ready by2pm.Instead we sat for 1.5hrs waiting in the terminal. The ship itself is beatifull, but it has the worse layout I've seen on cruise ship. There is no central staircase past deck7 and you have to wait for the elevator5-10min to go past deck 7.There is no way to get across the ship except deck7.We were on deck8 and in order to go for dinner on deck5,we had to wait for the elevator(which sometimes skips floors),go down to deck 7,walk across the ship and go down to deck5.It is very inconvenient, especially for people who have trouble walking. We are young and could use the stairs if they were available. The Horizon court and bistro is like a maze of labyrinth and you have to find your way out of there. You leave your plate to go get tea and have no idea where you left your plate because of that maze. The service was decent, in the buffet, but was not good in the dining room. We ordered drinks before the meal and they will arrived at the end of the meal. Most of the evenings we were not asked if we want coffee or tea after dinner, and we just felled nobody really cares about you satisfaction. We had anytime dining and ate at different table most of the evenings and experience was the same everywhere. The bar attendants barely speak English, you could not ask them anything except the drinks. The only exception was Ryan in the wine bar-very pleasant and knowledgeable about the wine and very attentive to your needs. The food was excellent, good variety, except breakfast ,which was the same every day. The room is decent size, but the balcony is extremely small. The entertainment was great, especially the comedians and musicians. The cruise director Lisa was awesome and the whole entertainment department was excellent and gave us plenty of laughs and things to do.The ship is very clean, but you could not find a single garbage basket throughout the ship, except the restroom. The pools are very nice, plenty of deck chairs. The shore excursions were very nice, but surprised me that 90% of excursions were sold out when we got on the ship, so we got waitlisted on all the tours and got in the last minute. The shore excursion staff really doesn't care about unavailability of the tours and did not really care whether we got the tours or not. The overall cruise experience was nice, but not as good as other Princess ships or other cruise lines. Princess could do better!
