There was no doubt this time – a January cruise on the Oriana is a great way to get rid of those winter blues. So, twelve days cruise on Oriana from Southampton with six ports of call in Portugal, Spain and Morocco. Check in was faultless and we were in our cabin before our daughter had got home – and she only lives 12 miles away. Freedom dining was the major change and very much applauded. Apart from a short queue for those wanting to dine at 6pm, we much enjoyed the opportunity of meeting different people each night. Crossing the Bay of Biscay both ways was in rough seas and F9 to 10 seas. The ship manages it beautifully although fair to say not for the feint hearted as it does crash and bang. The weather for the entire cruise was poor but, as a compliment to P&O, it made no difference – we could enjoy the facilities on board to the full including the outdoor, warm pools. The choice of films could be better: whilst varied, they tended to be American. The Theatre Royal shows were, without exception, all excellent and the Headliners amazing. Oriana beginning to look tired in some areas but I gather she is due for a refit.

Would we go again? Yes, without doubt and on Oriana if we can.
