  3. Carnival Freedom
We cruised with a group of 8 and snagged a last minute deal. The Freedom was a great value for the money and we very much enjoyed our entire trip. The weather was awesome and the ports were excellent. I have to say the staff on this ship were the friendliest we have experienced in six cruises. There was an excellent Mexican Cantina that had incredible tacos and burritos. You could also order your food naked with no shell. The omelettes were really good and look around the main dining as they make them in several places. On sea days, you had to be out by 8 to grab a chair or they were gone in any of the good spots-Serenity Deck, by the pool. People got downright crazy about the chairs. The entertainment in the three story venue was incredible. People from New York said the cast was Broadway worthy. It was an extremely talented group and they had such varied and excellent shows. I would have to say the other entertainment was a bit lacking. There were dead times in the evening schedule which made things a bit boring at times. The casino bar band and the piano man were both worth seeing.

Cabin Review

Interior
Cabin 4E 7234
Our cabin stewards were absolutely excellent. The best we have had in all our cruising. They were right on it when we left and the room was always clean when we came back. They anticipated our needs-ice, towels etc and everything was always ready to go.

  • Snorkeling
Captain Daniel and JJ were excellent. Our group of 7 had the boat to ourselves to tour Gibbs Cay. The island was so fun to explore with the crab tracks that looked like a highway, beautiful conch shells unlike any we have ever seen, and snorkeling. We noticed the cruise ship trips with 40 people and they all rushed to snorkel to the same spot, completely missing the island shelling and wildlife. The value of this trip was incredible and they even stopped at another spot away from all the cruise folks for a bit more snorkeling.

  • San Juan
We did enjoy walking about San Juan and toured the old forts and several of the old buildings including a beautiful church. Lunch on the cobblestone side streets was great and we went for some awesome Puerto Rican food. We walked seven miles that day and enjoyed every second of that.

Jo Junie had the best tour of St. Martin/St. Maarten. We had been here fifteen years before but loved the trip for $40. We were gone 6 hours and had time at Orient Beach, Maho beach, lunch/shopping and stopping at some excellent photo op points. There were drinks on board for the whole day including rum punch, local beer, water and soda. Our driver was Suday and Itzy was the tour guide giving us the background on the island. Super good value and we really enjoyed seeing the planes land right over us. The water was gorgeous and Jo Junie was easy to set up a tour with ahead of our trip.
