Cabin: Superior Deluxe Balcony Stateroom

Thomas Cook flight to Barbados - Good. Embarkation - 'cattle class' - no welcome drink, no staff to direct you to cabins etc - very poor first impression. Our cabin (superior deluxe) was very spacious with adequate balcony despite being totally overlooked by cabins on higher decks. Bathroom was fine but shower control was not the most powerful. General décor of cabin OK but pictures on walls very dull/dated. Throughout cruise food in main restaurants was very good despite menu being very 'safe' for the (mainly mature) British clients. Food choices in buffets, pool decks etc was limited - teatime particularly so with bland, boring same sandwiches every day and no healthier options such as salads. Entertainment generally very good and some acts excellent. Sailaway entertainment more Butlins than luxury cruiseliner. The main Playhouse theatre not large enough to seat people during popular shows, particularly for those on 2nd sitting for dinner - the theatre only seats 800. We had to complain on several occasions as unable to attend the shows. Manhatten Bar absolutely freezing most of the time - couldn't even get a hot drink to warm up! Throughout the ship, insufficient toilets/restrooms particularly outside theatre, main restaurants, buffet and pool areas. Never any visible signs of staff cleaning these areas. Design of toilets both in cabins and public areas are most unhygienic - you have to handle the toilet lid to access the flush button!! Thankfully, always carried own antibacterial hand gel. Drink prices compared favourably with normal UK pub prices. Staff (mainly from India) worked very hard. Very disappointed that, given this was a Caribbean cruise, there were no celebrations/typical entertainment (limbo/calypso etc) nor special menu to make us aware of our destination (other than a request for men to wear bright coloured shirts one eve). Would have welcomed the opportunity to attend free Zumba classes instead of constantly promoted Oasis Spa expensive pamper options. Excursions on offer were far more expensive than booking independently. However, two excursions booked on board (as not available independently) were enjoyable. There were many formal nights - bit OTT since one was only going for dinner and show. Would we be tempted to do another cruise on Azura? The answer has to be NO. Would we consider cruising with P & O again? Possibly - would only consider a newer ship and be assured that none of the above issues were repeated. With so many cruises on offer, P & O need to ensure that attention to detail is a must - first impressions always count!

Cabin Review

Superior Deluxe Balcony Stateroom

Cabin CC

Spacious cabin with adequate balcony albeit overlooked by above deck cabins. Cabin décor bit boring/dull. Shower controls awkward and insufficient power shower. Comfy bed and seating area with 2 tvs.
