  • Sail Date: Jan 2015
  • Destination: the Western Caribbean
  • Cabin Type: Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

This was our very first cruise and we chose the Explorer of the Seas because of where it sailed to and the dates we needed to sail. We were very impressed with the ship and staff, it made our first cruise very pleasurable. We had read other reviews and kind of knew what to expect, but honestly, our expectations were exceeded. Our cabin was larger than we expected, it was a balcony room, and it was very clean and comfortable. Our cabin attendant was amazing, keeping our room clean twice a day and making us towel animals at the end of our day. The food on the ship was amazing and soooo much of it, all the time.

We loved the shows and Royal Caribbean's private island, Coco Cay, was wonderfully relaxing. They had a BBQ for us and it was delicious, ribs that fell off the bone, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc., we never lacked for something to eat. We heard that the ship will be in dry dock in March for 45 days, so I'm sure they will be updating it some as it is almost 15 years old. Since this was our first cruise, we don't know if other ships are more "modern" than this one, but it seemed to have everything we needed.

We will definitely sail RC again and again!!

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony
Cabin D3 9364

The cabin was bigger than we expected. Yes, it may be somewhat "dated" as the ship was build in 1999, but you're not really in the room that much anyway, so it was very sufficient. The water pressure in the shower was amazing, better than our house!! The beds were comfy and the balcony was plenty spacious for sitting out on.
