I arrived in San Juan via Southwest, non stop from Baltimore, on time and it was easy to find people willing to share the ride over to the port. Flight, baggage claim, transfer to port quick and easy. Then, I must have read something wrong because it seemed to take me forever to get checked in at RC. My cabin was ready and my bag arrived promptly. My cabin attendant, Nigel Baptiste, showed up, handed me his card and introduced himself. I made my three usual requests which were soon in my room. I never, not even once, returned to an unmade room. That is a first.

We had My Time reservations in the Tides Dining Room at 6:30 and that worked well for our party of 7. Myla greeted us each night. We were lucky to have Fatih Hendem as our Head Waiter, he was ably assisted by Sayed and Lazar. One of the reasons to go to the main dining room is the ability to interact with the same staff, form enjoyable relationships and get the best possible service. Indeed, the service here was better than anywhere else on the ship. The staff became aware of our preferences promptly and was soon able to predict with accuracy what we would like and provide/suggest it. One of our group has a peanut allergy and Fatih spend time each evening, listing the choices available to her. It was an education in itself. I had not realized how many food items have hidden peanuts. We ate dinner 6 of the 7 nights in the main dining room. The second night, we went to Chops. The steaks were fine. The vegetables presented were, to me, the real stars of the evening and almost enough to make me consider becoming a vegetarian. But, if I had it to do all over again, I'd order the Snapper, grilled, hold all the trimmings. All along I wished for more local fish.

Of course, we usually went to the Windjammer for breakfast and often for lunch. There was enough food and enough variety to please most. Enough seemed to be the operative word where most were concerned. Or so it seemed to me. I found throughout that, if I did not see something I wanted and I requested it, it appeared. A word to the wise.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

Cabin was fine, quiet, relatively close to centrum. I traveled with 6 other people. We had two rooms on each side. If I were to do it over, I would have all rooms on the same side, not necessarily side by side. It would have been more convenient.
