This trip was given to us by our franchisor to celebrate 40 years in business. My son (27) went with me so we could go scuba diving in Nassau. We have sailed with RCCL since 1997 and had not been on a three night trip for over ten years. We had never sailed out of port Canaveral because we live in Naples and Fort Lauderdale and Miami are more convenient. We also had never been on a Vision class ship. The new RCCL terminal 1 was very well laid out for dropping off people and/or bags the looping around right into the parking structure. This terminal charges you when you enter. You put in your card, and are charged $20.00 per night so it spit out a $60.00 receipt. The inside is well laid out with about sixty desks to check you in. There is plenty of room to sit inside while waiting to board and the area designated for the suite guests, diamond, diamond plus, and pinnacle is also very large and comfortable with cookies, coffee, and it's own restrooms. They also had it organized for our lounge to board first. This is and older ship but was very clean. I was fascinated by the fact that they cut this thing in half, literally, and welded in a 74 foot section to make it longer. We found all the staff to be friendly and attentive. If you are a diamond or above they give you some nice perks. I like to take advantage of the one hour of free internet and the discounted phone rate, ($2.00 per min instead of $8.00). On almost every cruise they charge the full rate even though I go and tell guest relations I'm using the service. I did the same on this trip. This ship doesn't have the ability to show the seapass charges on your TV like the larger ships, so I went to the desk the night before departure and asked for a printout of charges. As usual the charges showed up. I told her the phone and internet charges needed to be corrected as there is a huge line the morning and I'd like to fix it now. I was assured it would be taken care of. Sure enough the charges were there when my statement was delivered. Back to the desk, where I was informed that there was only one person who had the authority to hit the delete button and they would not be back for an hour. I was a bit peeved about this as I tried to diffuse this before it happened. It was just a lot of wasted time. It was finally resolved and that would be the only complaint I had, Nassau and Coco Cay were picture perfect weather wise. We had a great couple of dives through Stuart Cove dive facility. We got back a bit late and missed our early dinner seating so we tried to get into Chops where they said they had a thirty person wait list. We ate dinner in the Windjammer. I was amazed that they were serving beef wellington and also had a chef preparing custom pasta dishes. This was some of the best food I'd ever had. I wonder about the people whose reviews state the food is "inedible" and "institution" grade - What do these people eat on a regular basis to say these things? I too have had the opportunity to eat at some of the finer restaurants of the world and some were not much better. I've heard people complain about the wine selection, are you kidding?, or is it they just don't have your preferred "box" of wine in stock ! They had a comedian and a magician for the entertainment and both were good. I did get a bit tired of the cruise director saying, "Yea Buddy" after each announcement, Yes, I mean Yup, you're from Texas - We "git" it. Coco Cay was perfect. The weather could not have been better. I hadn't been here for many years and there were some changes. I noticed they had private cabanas here now. I did not see them listed on the excursions as they are for Labadee, so we didn't know they were available. It's very clean, they had a nice lunch for us, beautiful beach, great cocktails and a hammock under a shade tree. It doesn't get much better. The last night we had reservations for Chops. Anthony was our waiter and was exceptional. The food and service were outstanding. Disembarking was organized as they actually had staff directing people and preventing log jams. We carried off our own bags and if you just had one bag there was an escalator you could use, if you had two bags, there was a ramp that went down to the lower level. This was very helpful and easy to use. We went through customs and out the door to the parking lot and home. It was a great little trip, just too short.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

We had stayed in the Royal Suite on Indy the month before and now had a regular balcony room. Quite a transition. We had not had a regular balcony room for ten years. But you know, it was just fine for a three night trip for my son and I. The room was showing signs of wear, such as some rust at the bottom of the bathroom door frame and the brass border on the desk mirror was quite tarnished. They kept it as clean as possible and it had a nice little balcony. All in all not bad and it was paid for by others which made it much nicer. Next trip is the owners suite on Indy.
