Arrived in Baltimore a day early to stay at hotel and park car. Good thing because it snowed that night and traffic was a mess in the morning. Check in at the terminal went very smooth, we walked directly on the ship because it docks early and we got there at around 10. Our room was not exactly what we anticipated, we should have had a large window but ended up with a room that had two small windows together. It was a minor inconvenience and did not bother my wife who is claustrophobic. We normally get a balcony but since this was an extra cruise we tried an outside room on deck 2. The room pictured on the web and by our travel agent is on deck 3, with a large single window. Guest services said that the ship was completely booked and could not arrange anything different for us. Two days into the cruise a free bottle of Champaign was delivered to our room compliments of Guest services. A very nice gesture. Our room was 2038 near the stairs, it was very quiet, and with a few mildly rough days at sea we felt no movement at all. Very smooth room. The ship is small and it does not very long to get from one end to the other. The food is above average and is what you would expect on a cruise ship. The service in the MDR is some of the best I have had while cruising. Also the service in the Windjammer was great, they serve and refresh your drinks at the table. Maria was the best server in the WJ.
Be sure to get on deck 3 if you want the large window be cause deck 2 have two smaller windows. Our room was set up to maximize the floor space and felt very roomy. The bath has some of the hottest water and best water pressure. Yes the shower curtain will stick to your back side but who cares. Our steward, Omar, was the absolute best. Since we didn't have a refrigerator he made sure was had lots of ice, even iced our wine for us. Yes the corkage fee is gone but I didn't take the wine to the MDR, I think they will charge you then. The rooms on the ship were very dry, woke up and drank two glasses of water a night. Several nights we ran the shower on full hot to steam up the room, it helped a lot. We brought several car air fresheners to ensure no bath room smells. We put one on the bath room door and never had any problems in the room.
We were the first ship docked that morning with another ship arriving in a few hours. Found a nice spot and settled in for the day. The weather was great, nice and warm with an ocean breeze. We watched the zip line, it looked like fun. The lunch served on the island was very good.
We took the water taxi to town and walked around. The beach was nice and there were lots of things to do there. But we are not into the water sports so we shopped and believe there are lots of shops off the main beach area even a Mc Donalds on the back streets. Bought some Cuban Cigars there for about $7 each. My son will like them. Remember that you can bring back $100 worth of them now.
Very good tour. Food was different, not much that I liked but we walked to places that we would have missed. We saw a wedding at the old chapel. Very interesting tour. The coffee was great. But for me the best was the chocolate and cheese. Bought coffee beans and bottle of Ron del Barrilito 3 Star Rum.View All 182 Walking Tour of Old San Juan Reviews
Lots of fun, loud music, singing. Bus ride is lots of fun. We took the shopping, site seeing and beach tour. The shopping part was the standard island shopping which gets old if you have shopped there before. The site seeing was good and we went to the cokie beach, I think I missed spelled it. I have been there before and it is very nice for snorkeling. The water is some of the smoothest and nicest in the area. You can rent a lounge for $5 and they bring drinks to your chair. Very nice.View All 291 Island Tour Reviews
