One of my tasks when planning our wedding was to sort out the honeymoon, normally our holidays meant jetting of to a luxury hotel in the sun for lazy days, a spot of sight seeing with good food and drink..however the wife to be wanted something different and memorable....no pressure on husband to be then! Having been on a mini cruise with P&O in the winter in an inside room and enjoyed it despite the weather I figured a fortnight in the Adriatic would be just the ticket from Venice. So having research the cruise companies I settled on an aft mini suite 11154 on NCL Jade. I'd read mixed reviews about aft cabins (lots of movement) soot from the funnels and noise from the outdoor garden cafe above, so I was a little nervous about it spoiling our honeymoon. Yes you hear the noise of tables and chairs bring dragged about, but only when the balcony doors were closed...we much preferred to leave them open all night to fall asleep to the sound of the sea and to wake up to it as well, the soot was easily wiped up and movement was minimal..all of this was far outweighed by the views from our balcony as we sailed in and out of ports..venice was spectacular. We didn't miss a thing and never had to worry if we were missing the best view on the other side of the ship..it was a magical experience that will live with us forever and has us firmly converted to aft balcony cabins and cruise holidays. The Jade is a good ship, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of other lines, but it is friendly has some great ports of call, Santorini was our favourite after Venice and the staff are lovely, especially those in the restaurants and cabin attendants. Would we sail with NCL again, definitely.

Cabin Review

Aft-Facing Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin M1

A good sized cabin, we never felt like we were cramped or getting in each others way, the bathroom was well laid out and there was plenty of space for a fortnights worth of clothes and toiletries. The best thing is the view and the sound of the sea, being an aft you can see both sides of the ship; sailing in and out of Venice its the perfect place to be. The Jade isnt too big so it doesn't take ages to get anywhere else on the ship. Yes you hear a bit of noise from above but open the balcony doors and the sound of the sea soon compensates. I would be very happy to book this cabin again.
